The short version
Poof has no accounts, no sign-in, and no server of its own. Every task you create lives in Poof's local database on your own device, and we, the developer of Poof, never see it. There is one small exception in Poof 1.1, and it is not your tasks: which seasonal pieces you have earned is saved in your own iCloud account, so it survives deleting the app or changing phones. Section 4 covers exactly what that is.
1. Data we collect
None. We run no server and no analytics, so there is nothing for us to receive. Your tasks, notes, due dates, themes, and every other setting are stored on your device using Apple's on-device SwiftData framework. Nothing you write is uploaded, sold, or shared with anyone. Poof 1.0 contained no networking code of any kind; Poof 1.1 and later reach exactly one network service — Apple's iCloud key-value store, for the single record described in section 4, never for task content.
2. Analytics & tracking
Poof contains no analytics SDKs, no advertising identifiers, no third-party tracking libraries, and no off-device crash reporting. We have no way to know how many people use Poof, what tasks they write, or how they use the app. That information never reaches us, because it never leaves your phone.
3. Notifications
If you enable reminders or the daily planning nudge, Poof schedules those notifications directly on your device through Apple's notification system. They are local notifications, not push notifications from a server. No task content is ever transmitted to make them work. If you decline notification permission, the rest of the app works exactly the same.
4. iCloud: what is in it, and what is not
Poof 1.0 did not use iCloud in any form. Poof 1.1 and later store exactly one thing there: a short record of which seasonal pieces you have earned — which stop of a pack's trail you reached, and when. It is written with Apple's key-value store, the small settings-sized corner of iCloud, and a copy is kept in your device's Keychain as a backstop. It exists for one reason: what you earn should survive deleting the app or moving to a new phone.
What is never in iCloud: your tasks, their titles, notes, due dates, categories, reminders, completed history, or your settings. In Poof 1.1 none of those sync between devices — each device keeps its own independent local copy, exactly as in 1.0.
That record sits in your iCloud account, not ours. We cannot read it and have no way to reach it. If you turn iCloud off for Poof, or sign out of iCloud entirely, Poof works exactly the same, and the Keychain copy still protects what you earned on that device.
Coming in Poof 2.0: your tasks themselves will sync across your devices. That is not in Poof today. Before that version is released, this page will be updated to describe precisely what syncs, and the app will explain it plainly.
5. Your control over your data
- Deleting a task removes it immediately from your device.
- The Auto-Delete setting (Settings → Data) can clear completed tasks automatically after a time you choose, or right away.
- Deleting the app deletes everything it kept on your device.
- One thing deliberately survives that: the short record of what you have earned (section 4), because it lives in your iCloud account rather than inside the app — reinstalling shouldn't cost you what you reached. It holds no task content, only a pack name, the stop you reached, and a date. We can't remove it for you, because we can't reach it; it sits in your iCloud account with the other app data iOS lets you manage there.
- Because we never had a copy of anything, there is nothing on our side to remove.
6. Children's privacy
Poof does not knowingly collect information from anyone, including children, because it does not collect information from anyone. Poof isn't specifically directed at children under 13, but nothing in the app changes based on age since no data is ever gathered from any user.
7. Third parties
Poof does not integrate any third-party SDK, ad network, or analytics service. The only other party involved in running the app is Apple, through standard iOS frameworks: SwiftData for storage, UserNotifications for reminders, App Intents for Siri and Shortcuts, WidgetKit for the Home Screen widget, and — in 1.1 and later — iCloud key-value storage and the Keychain for the single record in section 4. Everything except that one record operates entirely on your device. What Apple does with your iCloud account is covered by Apple's privacy policy, not ours.
8. App Store privacy label
Poof's declared App Store privacy practice is "Data Not Collected," and that stays accurate in 1.1. The seasonal record in section 4 goes to your own iCloud account, which we cannot access; data kept in your personal iCloud is not data the developer collects.
9. Changes to this policy
This page changes when the app does, not afterwards. Poof 2.0 will add syncing your tasks across your devices; this policy and the date above will be updated before that version is released, and any new data-related feature will be explained plainly in the app. If a change ever affects what leaves your device, it will be described here in the same plain terms as everything above.
